A frantic chase Monday between Philadelphia police and an accused carjacker was captured in dramatic footage by a helicopter
The incident started just before 8 p.m. after police spotted a Kia Sorento that had been carjacked at a New Jersey dealership last week, WCAU-TV reports. When officers tried to pull over the Sorento, the SUV fled the scene.
As police pursed the vehicle with patrol cars and a helicopter, the Sorento rear-ended a Lexus. Following the crash, the Sorento's driver got out of the SUV, pulled the driver from out of her car and drove off with it.
The pursuit continued until the suspect slammed into a parked car and collided with another vehicle. He then fled on foot before slipping and falling on an icy sidewalk.
Officers apprehended the 41-year-old man, and he was taken to the hospital because he was experiencing shortness of breath.
